Damn... that's incredible. I paid $900 for my used copy last year. This lens belongs in every shooter's arsenal, I think. Fantastic lens.

You can still keep saving for the 70-200 2.8L IS II, and then you can sell the f4 for what you paid for it now. (Or at least pretty darn close.) At most, you'd probably only sacrifice $100 to use this lens for however long you had it...which is not a bad "rental" fee.

For example, if you primarily shoot landscapes or do a lot of hiking, the f4 version will be much better due to the much lighter weight and size. Just a few things to consider. No pressure.
