hello. long time since post. long time xp user now just got a win7 machine. see screen shot. when i switch defaults from my latest monitor profile - eye1display2, to the HP ZR monitor profile or the sRGB profile, not much changes. is this to say that the monitor has come pre-calibrated and there's no need for me to profile it? i still think there's a pink cast to mids and brights/white.
also, you know how the profile software asks you to set your contrast to 100, then adjust until contrast indicator is within the defined target zone? well if i start the process with contrast set to 80, the indicator is satisfactory and if i restart the process with contrast set to 100, the indicator is in the same spot!
i never remember having this issue with my xp machines.
i have learned the trick to loading the profile everytime windows 7 and keep it loaded.
as long as i'm asking, i thought if you created an image from scratch (graphic) in photoshop with sRGB profile embedded, wouldn't that sRGB profile include gamma information - presumably gamma 2.2?
i ask this because i have another graphics program that says it'll recognize embedded gamma upon opening up an image file - if it has an embedded gamma. well it doesn't recognize because upon loading it the process shows gamma = N/A.
thanks,
