It sounds pretty normal to me...

Your first FF camera? That's a bigger mirror snapping up out of the way and a larger shutter moving in there.

The 5DII is pretty noisy! I have to be careful using it around horses. I've had a few "go vertical" when I tripped the shutter. I don't see the same problem with my 7Ds.

Ah...the 5d2 shutter. It's chunky. EXACTLY how it should sound. Some love it, some hate it. I've been shooting with a 6D and miss the sound and feel of the 5d2 shutter.

I don't know... his has a metal clanking sound unlike the digital pictures or my 5d2. Maybe he was right to post a question?

mine sounded similar to that when I switched from the 50d to the 5d mark ii.
6d is far more quiet.

I don't think the OP's audio sounds anything like the sounds on TDP. My 5D sounds kind of like Bryan's 5DII. The OP's sounds tinny, but that could be the microphone he used. I believe the OP's clip has some very slow shutter speeds, too. That makes it harder to tell.

Take a listen to mine at the link below. It's off my 5dmkii which has about 350K images taken so far... If you compare them, yours does have a ringing sound after the initial noise. If you import your sound in to a sound editor you might be able to determine when the sound is happening and then figure out if it is the mirror, first or second curtain. Try listening to the shutter in live view and mirror lock up to see if it changes.

...as a side note, I recorded my shutter to see if I could determine when I sometimes get an err20 when shooting in the cold...I've narrowed it down to the mirror at this point...actually reproduced it once by hitting the live view button as the mirror failed to lift. I'm thinking its old grease on the mirror motor or gear, someday if it gets worse I'll get it cleaned. ...in your case, with a ringing noise, maybe some lube is required...probably on the curtain mechanism.

Thanks for the sound clip. mine is definitely different sound than yours. I had problem with my past 50d, so I sold and got another used 50d. The shutter sound was totally different. Now, this 5dmkii has similar sound to my past bad 50d.

This body only has 10,000 actuations. I might bring it to ritz camera to compare with other mkii....
