When I had my full beard (shaved off a few months back), I was often asked to play Santa—by those who didn't know me well, naturally. Beside personal inclination, I declined to play Santa because my somewhat loud and deep voice would produce a "ho, ho, ho" that would scare little kids in the next county. Much closer to the Jolly Green Giant than Santa. I played Santa one year for the faculty party in the EE/CS department at Columbia U. Gotta confess, I enjoyed it. I had a long red beard in those days and was thin, kids didn't seem to mind but a couple of them did tell me I wasn't the real Santa. Some of them pulled on my beard, luckily they didn't pull very hard.

joeseph "smells like turd" More info | Dec 06, 2013 02:53 | #23 I'm off to the mall tomorrow to get my 3 kids their annual photograph with Santa. (hopefully it isn't a 16-year old like it was a couple of years back, that was quite an odd set of pics) some fairly old canon camera stuff, canon lenses, Manfrotto "thingy", and an M5, also an M6 that has had a 720nm filter bolted onto the sensor:

That's just wrong!!! No one under 50 should be allowed to be a store Santa. It should be a mandatory job requirement.

Today's efforts were a bit frustrating, had two goes at getting decent shots of the 3 kids & santa looking at the camera at the same time. Got home and only 2 of the 3 images on the USB stick have my kids in them! ![]() Apparently, the mere presence of Santa gets the photographer so excited that composition goes right out the window. I'm presuming the photographer wasn't you, inasmuch as the images were on a USB stick.
