Hope this is the right place to post this... I finally have available studio space once it's cleared out and was just wondering if there is an advice as to how to set it up. The walls are currently painted pink so obviously that will have to change but I am not sure what color to paint it. Also I need to get some backdrops. I was thinking just basic colors black, white etc. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you are planning on using the walls as a background I would paint them all black so you can avoid spill from bounced light. If you don't want to paint the walls dark you can hang some dark muslin. I currently have black, white and model gray seamless paper hanging in my studio..I recently purchased the grey and love it.. Congrats on the new digs!

Yea, ditto on the black walls. Don't want to mess with spill light, it can be a bugger to deal with otherwise. I'd also look into setting up some good stands for reflectors and lights. And frankly, if you have open beams or something, KEEP them that way. I find myself always clipping and bracketing on those beams in a studio, they're the handiest piece of architecture in my studio!

I would paint everything white then use black curtains to cover it. So when you need to bounce light from a specific side, you just take off the curtain.

Before I give my .02 on the color of the walls, what are the dimensions of the shooting space? If its large, definitely go white. If its small, perhaps as others have mentioned, black would be better.

Does it have windows ? for natural light. I prefer off white walls, you can always as you mentioned use backdrops and defuse your lighting if need be. It's all an individual preference sometimes.
