I took this pic the other day and because of the dirty glass I was not very satisfied with the shot so I played with it in photoshop a bit, would love feedback on the results.

Looks pretty good to me. The yellow seems to "bleed" a little but- maybe over saturated. Could be my monitor, but I'd like to see it a little sharper. The whites are very crisp and it's a good capture of goalie pose.

I kinda like the oversaturation, but I can't stop looking at the yellow lines. I am having a hard time focusing my attention on the goalie. I do like the image overall, and can imagine what it must have looked like to start, arena glass can be terrible. I would try a bit more blur on the background and if I I could get the goalie to pop out a bit

woohooo! thank you!! it was only my second time trying to shoot hockey. I love hockey and really want to try to get better at shooting it. I am not so patiently waiting for my 80-200 2.8 to arrive so in the meantime shot this with my Tamron 28-75 through some dirty dirty glass. I was hoping to try to do something different with the shot so I could salvage something from my second attempt.
Thank you for the feedback!

might be a bit much blurring on the second attempt to make it look natural but if that does not matter i think it looks great

If you wouldn't mind my asking, what did you do for the blur effect?

I just use the gausian blur in photoshop. (I'll play around with the intensity of the effect untill I get something that seems to fit the image I am working with) If I am in a situation where I want the blur start gradually, like a natural depth of field, I will use graduated mask, and this can have some very natural looking results. But I don't think that technique would apply to your hockey pic where there is a clear seperation between subject and background.

I'm certainly no pro but, look at the background white showing through the net compared to the white outside of the net - they're very different, whereas they should be the same.

That picture would look outstanding on the metallic paper that Mpix.com uses. I like the brighter yellow btw. I think it adds to the effect.
