Ecco Helsinki (external link), I have three pairs. I love Merrell but they're not formal enough for me, and hard to find in NZ.

Yup. Those are super comfy! :)

I wear Ecco shoes. I get the ones that are wider. Very comfortable.

Nick- I had a pair of Ecco Oxfords that lasted me forever. When I finally replaced them with a similar pair in the spring the sole suddenly detached from the shoe at the toes as I was loading my car up with gear for a wedding. I couldn't believe it! I had to make an emergency stop at the payless up the block from me and got the $40 pair I linked to earlier. They were actually really comfortable and got me through the season.

I'm looking around now, I used swear by Ecco's as well. I'm sure I was just unlucky or damaged them somehow unknowingly but its hard to go back at this point.

That could happen to any brand. Did they replace them? I had one pair that had the sole split, but they were replaced not questions asked. I have three pairs with only that one problem, I've been wearing Ecco shoes for 2-3 years happily.

I used to wear hush puppies, which I don't like any more.

I went to Walmart to try out the TredSafe but it is not better than my Rockport. I will try out the Ecco brand. Being a not so tall individual I found myself slip out my shoes to hop on bed, sofa, chair throughout the day to get high angle shots so I prefer slip on shoes instead of anything with shoelace.

Anyone heard of and wear Gravity Defyer (external link)? Looks like it is great but I wonder if it really does the job.

Sadly for me they don't make them anymore. I'd have bought 2 pairs, but they were obscenely expensive.

Impractical ? Perhaps.

Just had a look at Peter's shoes. That's awesome, man ! Never conform !

I kind of dig Thomas' pick but could never abide by rubber soles.

Dr. Scholl's pads absorb a useful amount of impact.

This made the difference for me. I wear Sperry Docksiders in black. They look professional enough and stand up to any kind of weather. And my feet still feel pretty good after a long demanding wedding shoot.

But I found on weekends where I was shooting both Saturday and Sunday, I'd be struggling by the time of the ceremony on the second day. Some gel insoles have really helped.

Dr Schools something or other... slip on shoes... super quite soles, 1 size up with extra padding in them... super comfortable... and I'm nearing the point where these need to be my backup shoes and need a new pair, and I sure hope I can find these again!

Ive got super high arches and I have played sports my entire life. After 30 yrs of tennis and running , I have ruined my feet for dress shoes. Im am not able to wear type of dress shoes. They just dont work on my feet. I have been wearing asic gel running shoes for about 20 years now. Cant wear anything else. As a result, my feet never bother me after an 11 hous day.....I wear these and try to get shoes that are all black and have the least amount of color in them that i can find. So its Asic gels or Nike Air court shoes for me

Before I get to try out Ecco brand, this weekend I will pack along an ultra light black Diesel pair and slip them on during the dark reception after the Rockport. Thanks Peter for the idea!

We always bring along backup of everything, why not bring backup shoes :).
Thanks for sharing all your shoes Guys!

I generally have 3 pairs with me, thongs (flip flops), the hiking shoes and the black shoe/trainers. The hiking shoes shoes normally reek by the time the bridal party shots are done. Either that or they are soaked from the sea, covered in mud or got those really annoying sharp grass seeds stuck in them. I have them for functional reasons. Quite often my style of shooting sees me doing the equivalent of fell running. I've tried lots of other shoes and they just didn't last. I destroyed one pair

By the time the reception gets around I normally do a complete clothes change as I'm dripping with sweat by then (or filthy, wet etc). I have exactly the same shirt and jeans that I wear at the reception but the shoes are different as my feet need a change by then.

My record was trashing one pair of shoes in just two weddings which was when I opted for the hiking shoes which have lasted nearly two years now.
