Help! I have found that more and more wedding couples want to have a thank you cards the week following their wedding shoot. We never discuss it before the wedding, yet they feel that is a normal request. I find it very challenging! I can never keep all of my weddings uploaded on my computer at once. Thus I have to upload the wedding, go through all of the pics only to be told that I don't like the angle of my neck. A picky bride can ask for multiple photos. This interferes with my work flow and delivering the final product. What do you do or would you faced with this issue? I want to keep my clients happy yet I want to keep the work flow going? Advice?

If it's not part of my original contract/invoice, it is an extra cost. Plus, I always use portable hard drives so I do not have to "upload" any images. Just plug it in.

Canon 5D MkII gripped, Canon 7D gripped, Canon 40D gripped, Canon XTI (IR) gripped, Canon 17-55 2.8 IS, Canon 60 Macro 2.8, Canon 70-200L 2.8 IS , Canon 24-105 4.0, Tokina 11-16 2.8, Canon 50mm 1.8, Sekonic L-358, Canon Speedlite 580-EX II, (2)430-EX, Pocket Wizards, lots of other stuff that seems to keep growing...

If its a means of accessing your photos, you might look into using external drives. We use a hot swap drive bay in each of our systems, so accessing photos is easy.

When brides ask us for the "Thank You" card photo, we usually shoot it, show them the camera, get approval, and email them that photo within a few days. Its an extra step, but it also leads to higher customer satisfaction directly after the wedding, which is when she's most likely to talk about her experience. Its somewhat annoying, but going that extra yard every so often is worth it.

Start bringing that up specifically during the pre-wedding meeting. That way you don't get surprised and you can either charge for it or at least make them feel they're getting a little extra value.

As for the actual process, like Trent said, show them on camera and get approval right there. That way you just process it and send that one shot the day after.
