I am buying the Canon 200mm f1.8.
The seller has both the Drop-in Filter holder for Gelatin filters (model II) and also Drop-in Filter holder for Screw-in Filters.
He asked me to choose one.
Does anyone use both of these and have a preference over the other? I appreciate your comment.
Thanks,
Ken

What filters do you anticipate using? Gels are much cheaper, but they're less durable. Also, you won't find (easily) a gel polarizer if that's among your interests. If you want to play around with all kinds of filters gel would be the way to go. If you're rgoing to be schlepping the gear all over and using one or two filters, with frequent switching back and forth, go for the glass holder.

Jon, Thank you for your response.
I mainly shoot portrait and will be using this to take photo of my son's basketball game indoor. So i'm not sure if I need any filter or which filter to get.
After talking with few others, I'm also leaning toward the screw-in type.
Thanks again,
Ken

For that, screw-in filters. One thing the "no filters, not now, not ever, never" school won't think about is that you can smear a little something around the edges of a skylight/UV filter and get a soft-focus for portraits without mucking around with your lens.
