Best I could do as a suggested edit:

I wish I had cropped the picture like you did before I asked the question, I would like say you guys and gals have eyes for great details, there is ONE thing that while looking at my great niece that keeps saying look at me and I have to look, I keep saying to myself don't look but it won't be satisfied until I look at it. I didn't want to sway people by saying what it was that was so distracting to me, but since you cropped it, it stands out even more to me, what is it? That bow in her hair, It may be that the reason it stands out to me is, I don't think I have seen a picture of her with out a hair bow.

Thanks to all for your replies.
Don

This is me and my thoughts, went to Facebook there is a picture of my great niece setting on Santa's lap telling Santa what she wanted for Christmas thinking about all the things she has told us she wanted, enjoying seeing her big smile and how happy she was. etc.

there is a picture of my great niece setting on Santa's lap (hair bow, look at me)telling Santa what (hair bow, look at me) she wanted for (hair bow, look at me)Christmas, trying to think about all the things she has told us she wanted( hair bow, look at me) for Christmas, enjoying seeing (hair bow, look at me) her big smile(hair bow, look at me) and how happy (hair bow, look at me) she was. etc. (hair bow, look at me) the darn thing is freaking me out, lol.

I'd lose the window and the tree. Now your left with a really pretty, happy little girl and a happy Santa. (real quick edit) :)

Santa's white hair, white beard, and black eyebrows are what I noticed. Other than that the edits look good.

What is your opinion on the bow in her hair?

I don't care for it at all. But I doubt she put it there so her parents must like how it looks. At the very least they let her keep it there.

Like the Grinch's heart at the end of the story, it's about 3 sizes too big.

I think the cropping doesn't work, the girl and Santa are fine but I would try to recompose the subjects

I think you all have gone way round the bend on this.

It's simply a cute little girl having a great smile while visiting Santa that will be a nice memory forever. We all want out pictures to be good, and most are, but there is certainly a place for shots like this one. Not ever picture we take is destined for a magazine cover. Shots like this are meant to preserve fun, happy moments. And that's exactly what it does. Picking apart pictures just for the sake of doing it makes no sense to me.

Big bow in her hair, kind of crazy print shirt.....who cares? Look at her face. She's thrilled, and I think Santa looks pretty good too....considering some I've seen.

I think this picture is great just as originally posted.

The bow never bothered me--two daughters and two granddaughters--the ladies sometimes go a little nuts at holiday time. All part of the charm. I like tight crops, which is why I posted the one above. Cut out the unnecessary--it's the interaction between two faces. Now Santa--his face is a little redder than I would think is normal--high blood pressure or dehydration and heat build-up in the suit?

What in this picture draws your attention the most?

The bow is the first thing to draw my attention.

Thanks to everyone for your replies and comments
I guess I wanted to make eye contact with my great neice (in the picture) as if she was here talking with me, the big smile and excited telling Santa all the things she wanted for Christmas just like she was excited and smiling when she was telling the family what she wants for christmas, BUT, every two words into my thoughts that D**N bow was screaming look at me.
Thanks
Don

Desaturate it (the bow) a little, if you've got the software to selectively do that.

You know what... sometimes it's not the distractions or other imperfections that matter. If you got the feeling that you wanted from it, all is well.
