My inkjet printer is dead (or was programmed to die...).
Anyhow I'm thinking to replace it but I'm facing a real problem.
During the last years, I noticed that I print only occasionally. And the ink was mainly consumed by the cleaning process rather than real printing.
So I'm thinking to buy a laser print but the problem is that I print mainly photos and it seems that laser printers are not as good as inkjet printers for photos.

So what' the best solution for someone who prints mainly photos but occasionally only ?

By the way I have tried of course to make prints online but I have never got as good quality as my own inkjet printer.

Change your online printer. Read reviews, make test purchases. It'll work out cheaper in the end.

^^ Absolutely THAT.

I have a very good color laser, and it can't touch a good inkjet, and the inkjet gets smoked by any print I just buy.

And once you have your new printer DONT keep turning it on if you don't intend to use it. Constantly cleaning heads is just wasting ink for no good reason.

I rarely use my R2880 these days except for things like letters and the ink carts are fine.

...what is the 'best' inkjet for photos these days, anyway? I think they're still pretty expensive to run. One of my big problems was color management -- the defaults just mess with WB etc.
