I think you have the departments mixed up. If the lens doesn't sell, that is a marketing mistake. This means the company set out to make a product that has no demand. I suspect this lens is exactly what marketing asked engineering to make. Now, if it was plagued by poor optical performance or was unreliable in use, those would be engineering mistakes. It seems to me that it was made as a kit lens for the 6D, a small high performance lens to match the 6D's compact size and image quality abilities. The 6D is as small as most crop bodies, but there was no small full frame lens to match it. Well the 24-70mm f4 is not much bigger than a 15-85mm! Canon 5D Mark III - Leica M240

I bought a 24-70 f4 L IS from Adorama but haven't tried it out yet. With all the other lenses I have, I am debating if I should get rid off the 24-70II. I shoot indoor some times but at narrower than f2.8 to get decent DOF. What do folks shoot at f2.8 in the 24-70 range outdoor? Maybe for certain portrait? Douglas

Stop it down to f8 and the 24-70mm II is still out performing the f4 and any other zoom and most primes for that matter. Canon 5D Mark III - Leica M240
