Hello im currently running two xti's with bg-e3 grips. there great little bodys but its time to upgrade. Im undicided between a 1d mkii n or 40d. I know there two completely different worlds. I try to shoot sports but i hardly get that "shot" because of the 3fps on the xti. I used a friends 40d and that seems to get the job done i like the feel in the hands and a lot of new features compared to the xti or the 1d mkii n. I dont know which way to go older pro or newer semi pro?? please helppp

Step #1, set your price range. What are you looking to spend.
Step #2, your options will present itself from the price you are willing to spend.

But as your looking at the 40D, I'm guessing that the price range is going to be quite low. Having had both the XTi and the 40D, there is little difference outside of a few things like frame rate. It's really not much of an upgrade. I would seriously set the low end at either the 50D or the 1DIII as minimums.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

I dont really need to get a new body. I was just looking around and the 1d mkii n and 40d both seems rather inexpensive, so thought there cheap lets get a newer body so i really didnt have a set price range. What body would you suggest if i shoot sports-wildlife take it to the city?? and didnt want to spend to much???

At the very minimum, I would upgrade the XTi to the 50D, or if a 1D series is being considered, the 1D3.

I've had both the XTi, XSi, T2i, 40D and the recently purchased 60D. By far, I prefer the 60D out of all of them. I got my 60D for a rediculous low price because it needed repair. Bought the $30 part, repaired it myself and now things are golden. Just my 2 cents.

Was shooting with my 6D and 24-105 on a tripod. Several shots were excellent and then, all of a sudden, it just stopped focusing. I know something is amiss, but the only thing I can figure is that I left the stabilizer on while using the tripod. Error on my part. Looks as though the lens just stopped focusing. My subjects have flown the coop and it will be a while before I can recheck. When I removed the 6D from the tripod, it worked fine. I might try an 85, which does not have stabilization when they return. My testing results in great images with the 24-105.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Dan

The 60D will overall be a little bit quicker than the 40D.

Less noise at high ISOs...better IQ but not by much. The 60D isn't built as tough at the 40D but I would take it over the 40D if I had the choice. The control layout is a bit different too.
