Hi,
I was just given a Digital Rebel EOS 300D and was wondering if anyone could tell me what lenses are compatible with this camera?
Thanks,
Michael

That was my first DSLR and even though it pales in comparison these days it was a fantastic camera. That thing must be 10 years old how did you even get your hands on it?

Also all EF mount lenses from all the other lens manufactures, be they designed for crop only, or full frame. The only exception is some older Sigma lenses, Sigma reverse engineered the mount, and Canon made changes to the electonics of all mounts which affects only DSLR's from I think the 300D onwards. The 300D was the first DSLR with the EF-s mount. The other non Canon lens brands are OK as they licenced the mount technology.

My dad got it in the early 2000s and gave it to me around 2005. Now that I'm out of the Army, I've been rediscovering the love of photography I had when I was in college. It came with an 18-55 mm lens, and and 70-210 mm lens. I love them both, but one is too small, one is too big. On my SLR, I have a 35-135 mm lens and really love it. I guess I'm trying to find an equivalent lens, but I'm not too knowledgeable about this stuff.

Assuming "your SLR" is a 35mm film camera, you'd need something about 22mm to 85mm on the 300D to emulate the field of view range of the 35-135 on your SLR. Skip Douglas

It came with a 18-55 lens without IS. I kept my EF 75-300 zoom lens, that works fine on the EF-S mount, but it is heavy and no IS. Now I would like to upgrade my zoon to something with IS. Would the image stabilization (IS) on the Canon EF-S 55-250 work on my 300D? I think IS is in-lens stabilization but not sure if it needs something from the camera.

More info | Aug 11, 2019 03:05 | #9 The 55-250 is the perfect telephoto zoom for the 300D. The IS system works very well, all Canon DSLR IS is of the in lens type. Optically the 55-250 is supposedly much better then any of the Canon 75-300mm options, which are considered to be the worst lens formulation that Canon have ever sold. I had a 75-300 with my 300D originally, but it went MIA, so I replaced it with a Sigma 28-300, which over the common focal length range is a better lens than the Canon, even though it is a superzoom design. If you are looking at secondhand lenses try to get the latest version that you can afford, each iteration brought improvements to the lens.
