Anyone have a favorite internal card reader? I have a 5.25" bay I'd like to put a reliable and fast card reader into. All I find online have very mixed reviews.

I have never had good luck with them. They are always made my cheap chinese companies it seems and they have always given me problems like disconnecting randomly etc. I have tried about a half dozen of them over the years in many different PCs. IMO its better to go the external route and in this day and age USB 3.

I have had good luck with the AFT brand. Not vast experience mind you, but no failures out of three units.

I had a Sony branded one that didn't last any time at all. Just past the short warranty of course, but very short lifespan. Decided to try one more time and bought a Rosewill via Amazon in 2011 and it's still working just fine. Since then, I've bought an external USB 3 one to use for large transfers. I wish they'd make an internal USB 3 model, but I couldn't find one at the time I was purchasing.

I've got a USB3 internal card reader and I've not had any issues with it. I want to say it was Rosewill but I can't recall with certainty and it's not branded on the front.

I use http://www.akasa.co.uk …%20Reader&model=AK-ICR-13 (external link) without any issues but as a 3.5" it isn't exactly suitable for you.

However given my experience with that one I recomend looking at http://www.akasa.co.uk …Reader&model=AK-HC-05U3BK (external link)
