now I am currently on a job with my low res lap top but the last 2 seem a bit grainy. I do like the second pic though. I also have the same problem with getting my pics level at times you may want to consider a tripod.

Alisa,
The pictures are ok, they need more substance or "wow" factor. I like the tree with the different colors on it. For some reason I also like the picture of the town. If you cropped out the fence in the bottom of the picture and messed around with brightness and contrast it might look better. I'll mess around with it a littlte when I get home tonight and post an edited copy...

The first shot has great atmosphere, but the fence detracts from the shot.

The second has a lot of potential, but I don't like bisecting the shot so close to the middle with the horizon- I prefer emphasis to be given to either the water & sky, or the beach (in this case the beach because of the foreground interest). Also, the beach rocks seem a little underexposed.

The third shot (bench) is my favorite. The lines, colours, and composition are appealing. It is missing an element though- having a lone figure sitting on a bench would have made this shot first class - or - even leaving a prop (a handbag or umbrella) would have worked too.

Fourth (vines)- sorry, focus is not on and it ruins the shot for me. Nice reflection though.

Fifth (tree) - lovely colours and the exposure is great. Framing is a little tight though, and you need to move the tree left or right (it actually might be easier to move your camera;) )

In summary, you seem to have a good eye and are creative, you just need a little work on your composition.

#1 looks PS'd too much. You can see the blur where the roofs meet the sky. #3 Would be great if you could crop it to just one bench framed by the pillers. As the shot is taken you have very little room to do that. The color contrast in that shot is what makes it for me.

Alisa,
Here's the picture that I told you I would photoshop and crop once I got back to my place tonight. I don't know what's wrong with the bottom half of the picture. It seems that somehow it got f-ed up..but you get the picture...

With the exception of #1, I will depart from my usual approach and just do readings of these images rather than critiques. But in #1, I agree with a comment above that the faux sky is a little too obvious.
#2 - is saying that this is a cold, clammy unfriendly place.
#3 - gives me the feeling of a bureaucratic place that suffers regular flooding.
#4 - is a house in agony, being strangled to death by mother nature.
#5 - is a deciduous tree showing the jealousy that she has for her conifer cousins.

An extremely interesting collection.
I'm guessing that they are all from continental Europe or the UK - possibly the low countries.

Not sure if you're going for a particular look. What does the original look like?

To me #1 has too much Highlight from the Shadow/Highlight in PS. It's losing detail and taking on sort of a "posterized" look. A lot of items in the picture have that halo effect... especially around the rooftops. If that's what your shooting for then it looks good.

It's better in some aspects but I think it can get better. Mess with the brightness and the contrast more. Use more contrast. I can see where you messed around with the brightness. Try the "sharpen" function as well...

#1 looks like it had a bit of shadow lightening applied... too much.
