One item, but is there anything else under the covers? ;)

Fixes a phenomenon in which the image files cannot be transferred using the FTP protocol via USB cable after the Canon EOS 7D camera has established a wireless connection to the Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E5A.

That's all Canon's press release claims so far. There may be a bone or two hidden between the lines.

Is a firmware upgrade at this stage in it's life indicative that a 7D2 is not in the immediate future. :(

Not at all, it's just a bug fix.

The firmware update of 2.XX over 1.XX was the sign that we were gonna have to wait for the 7D2 a bit longer. But that's been out for ages, so I don't think the timeline is altered in any way again.

It didn't include any enhancements, just a bug fix. The last time they included a ton of enhancements, one of the first such firmware updates to any camera, and it signaled no 7D2 at that time, when everyone was expecting one.

I hope not, with all the time Canon has taken to develop the alleged 7D II it has to be a giant step forward in the crop world.

Would be most disappointing to wait this long only to see a modest upgrade over the 7D. May see a new series of 1s, 5s and who knows maybe a 3 before we see the new 7...

So this is probably only interesting to those who actually have a WFT-E5, and I haven't even noticed this bug, even considering I'm one of the pretty few who does have a WFT-E5B.

Yea, I do not see it being firmware that I have any use for and would be more trouble to put on worrying about something going wrong with it later. :D

Updating is easy, so that's not any issue. Chances are they fixed some other minor stuff they didn't tell as well.

Haha, coward. Just think about the new and amazing bugs your camera may catch! Something fun to sort out during the Christmas holidays.
