The big brown truck just knocked on my door and handed me a box...inside is a red, black and white box and inside that is a 17-40 f/4L!

We're about to take a swim so I'm going to take some shots of our little dude...see how this baby performs.

I had a 17-55 2.8 that was such a cracker on my old 30d so I'm hoping to be just as pleased as with my 5d and this one. Judging by the shots in here I think I will be!

you know shots of a brand new 17-40 are equally sexy as shots from a 17-40. As least I think so.

Just remember that the front element moves and you need a filter on it for complete weather sealing.

Thanks, yeah I remembered it. Luckily I had a UV filter to put on! :)

Man this lens is sharp and focuses well. Depsite the distance to the subjects, the very snowy weather and snowflakes forming on the filter everything still turned out really sharp. Here's 2 pics I think turned out well:

Some mornings, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps.

Man...only had it a couple hours and I already love it! I'm surprised how accurate it is...definitely more keepers than my 50 1.4 & 85 1.8 but that's probably due to shooting those around f2 and trying to capture shots of a lightning quick toddler. Sometimes you got to stop a lens down but those razor thin fstops are so sexy!

Anyway. Here's one of our BRAVE two year old jumping off the jacuzzi ledge and into our pool (sorry to all of you up there still dealing with snow  ).

Very nice pics! I would entitle either one "Serenity"

This lens definitely is a nice performer and quite underrated IMO.

The 17-40L impresses me more the more I used it. You can't really tell from a photo this size, but at f/8 it's quite sharp in the corners even on 5D. I should have bought this lens much sooner.

(Edit: I just noticed that h2dal lives in Trondheim too. Neat! :) )

I loved this lens on the 30D, on the 5D... well, it's even more special! One from this morning -

Bill is my name - I'm the most wanted man on my island, except I'm not on my island, of course. More's the pity.

Hard to beat the vivid colors of this lens with a CPL in front of it
