I have been trying to decide on a good walkabout lens, that will cross over for portrait work, I decided I dont need anything with a long zoom, does anyone use this for portraits?

It can be used for portraits on a crop body at 40mm...but the IQ is really not going to be as good as a prime lens. Mar 18, 2009 09:32 | #1896 hello, well i have a question: does anyone find this lens a little dark? I am thinking of purchasing it later (well have to save up some money) but i am woried that it will be too dark for me? Maybe this problem could be solved with nifty-fifty?

Not to mention the garbage camera I have makes it impossible to turn up the ISO and still produce a quality picture.
