Thanks a lot for that compliment - :D

I actually thought about selling this lens but after going through my recent photos with it I realized this lens is just too darn sharp to part with.

Another one of my wife while starting an early morning hike.

you really need to get opanda's exif viewer! Right click and image with the exif intact and you can see the whole thing:
*Model = Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi
*Exposure Time = 30"
*F Number = F5.6
*Exposure Program = Aperture priority
*ISO Speed Ratings = 400
*Exposure Bias Value = ±0EV
*Focal Length = 17mm
*Exposure Mode = Auto exposure
*White Balance = Auto white balance

If you EVER want to sell it PM me! Not that you'll really want to! I tried a 17-40 that was wonderful! Then thinking I wanted to go wider I returned it for the 10-22, which I don't really like. I tried another 17-40 and it was soft. I really regret giving the first one back!

nah it's for landscapes and I never go below f/8, unless I really need to. I can't see spending double on the 16-35.

for landscapes use f/8 and above, but when you shoot indoors low light then you will wish if you got f/2.8 or wider. ;)
I can use f/2.8 up to f/22 without any problems:lol:

Ah but that's what my fast primes are for! I can buy three primes and the 17-40 for about the same price as the 16-35.

I'm loving this lens the more I use it. It hasn't come off my 5D since it arrived... It's amazing how sharp it is wide open too.

This was test shot with the 17-40L on a 10D that was just converted to IR. On a FF, the 17-40L really shines.

Hey Guys

Would you think this would be a good lens to get first before the 70-200 f/2.8L IS? Do you really need f2.8 if you have like a good external flash?

Cheers
