^^^nice but thats one of the problems with this lens on architectural shots straight out the camera, it defo' needs some correction in PP......is there one straight line in that shot??

They're all straight, just diagonal, lol. I thought about using PS to correct the barrel distortion, but I'd lose too much of the building due to crop.

It's really just a matter of taste, but traditionally architectural shots would keep verticals vertical and parallel. That was easy with view cameras, and could be done with smaller ones using shift lenses. Now it can be done digitally, but you do lose some quality by distorting the image.

Just as a point of helpful correction, that isn't barrel distortion - that's where straight lines running meridionally (perpendicular to radial lines) are curved outwards from the centre of the image. What you have is simply "perspective distortion", which isn't a lens fault, just an effect of framing at an angle with a rectilinear lens.

Sometimes it's good to have diagonals and converging verticals

Thank you - you will learn to love it - Every Landscape / nature photographer should own one - I normally shoot on a 5D Mark II but it's also a sweet lens on a 7D..

(Do you do any fishing in those lakes? If so what kind of fish do you have?)
Those are gorgeus places you've photographed- reminds me of home. I'm from close to the Rocky Mountains in the U.S... exchange program? ;)

sorry yes.. just a regular uv one to protect the glass. I heard some dont fit and some do which is why I ask

I think what you're wondering about is if you need a slim design to prevent vignetting-
below 24mm it's just a good idea but it really is dependent on the lens especially if you stack your filters. If you local camera store will allow you to try a few on, might give you a good idea- otherwise I'd go with a slim.
