I took a whole bunch of shots for this great band's album cover last sunday.
Thought it'd be a nice change to post a "collage". All shot with the 17-40 on my 5D. I didn't realize it would be so great at portraits... Especially when you're "free-shooting" in a strobist environment with backlights & kickers and all... Sharpness was great, colors really popped without much editing and flare resistance was epic. I took a few shots with my 28 1.8 after this and only then noticed how much torture my kicker light was against another lens's flare resistance...

I agree about the light, it's far from a low light lens, and I used to state that any lens can take great images when you're carefully sculpting light with flashes, but my normally beloved 28 1.8 and 85 1.8 really showed a difference in needing the flashes to be flagged to prevent flare.
