Hi guys, am new here and would like to improve my shots

First of, i'm colour deficient and i've tried my best to do the best post i can to my eyes, can anyone tell me what's wrong here? I know its a bad shot. Why are my photos so grainy at ISO 100 still?

Using a 550D with a Tamron 17-50 non VC

Colors look pretty good to me but I'm on a lap top right now. Long exposures will sometimes cause graininess.

I agree with Gregory, they look good to me. And I have also seen where long shots do introduce some noise to shots. It should clean up pretty easily in DPP or most other RAW processing applications.

The clarity is super and the colors are awesome. Great job.

Colors and focus look pretty good. Are you having to push your exposure/shadows up in post at all?

Am I the only one seeing clipped blacks?

I think you did a good job on these, the grain is only noticeable on the top photo… for me at least.

Thank you for the compliment! as usual am trying to improve what to post process to make an image shine out. As i said, i'm colour deficient and i might have some issue with the post process.

Thanks for the compliment too! I thought it was pretty bad the first time i saw it, hence i posted it here. Even my peers said it was nice too!

looks good, i would maybe bring the crop down on the first one to just above the building line, the sky doesnt add anything to the image, takes away from it imo. Try to establish the focal point more predominantly on the business on the corner.

First photo: 23 sec at f/29, ISO100 and second one is 30 sec at f/32, ISO200. Do the originals look under exposed? I'm guessing yes.

I'm surprised to see them sharper than I expect. Diffraction (at such a small aperture) should soften the image a lot. I think the noise, in addition to long exposure, comes from pushing up the exposure and shadow and sharpening in post processing. The final edit looks nice though. I like the long starburst effects produced by very small aperture.

OP: If you turn on Image Editing Ok in your profile, I can throw up a quick example of how you can easily clean up the noise in the skies of the first shot. If you have a way to link to the RAW file or original JPEG if that's how you shoot, it would be interesting to see what you started with that generated these results.

Bumping an old thread because I keep having the SAME thing happen and don't know what's causing it! I shot a sunrise the other morning and my photos all have that exact same graininess to them at various apertures and exposures. ISO was even at 100! What am I doing wrong? Someone please help me here!

I suggest you start your own thread and post some examples. But in general if you are increasing the exposure or brightness, or performing shadow detail recovery in your post processing you will see noise.

At very high f stops, diffraction Lowers the quality of the image, is f32 really neccesary?
I like the shots by the way, just something I thought about.

I did not notice the high Aperture and as others have stated here, that will usually result in some diffraction that does impact overall sharpness. I have heard many people who are in the know using nothing more than f/13. You would have had to shorten the exposure, but it might have allowed you to not have to pull up the shadows as much causing the noise as well.
So there are a few things that might have positive impacts on your image.
