Maybe you more experienced guys already figured this one out, but this past weekend I realized that shutter response (minimal lag) is so much more important to me than fps.
I was shooting with both the 5D2 and 5D3... Over the past few years, I've relied less and less on shooting in bursts.
- I have focused more on timing the shot.
- I really hate culling and processing two or three times the number of photos I need.
- I find myself shooting with flash indoors in a gymnasium, so I don't want the 2-3 flash bursts.
I'm not a professional, but I shoot once or twice a month at community events when my father-in-law's youth martial arts program puts on demonstrations. I was at our annual event this weekend and it was the first time I used my recently acquired 5D2 at such an event.
Shutter lag sucks. I had to adjust, but I was able to get the timing down as we got further into the program. However, now I just have to remind myself which camera I'm shooting with and make adjustments accordingly
