Took this on a railroad track that crosses the deschutes river outside of Madras/Redmond Oregon. Opinions/suggestions that could help improve my phototaking abilities would be great.
Thanks,
Riley

I really like it. At first, I thought it lacked DOF, but looking at it further, I think it works here. The lines obviously good, and the composition works for me. I like the grain- like a high speed B&W film was used. Only crit is the angle at which it was taken. I think it could be rotated about 5 deg cw. Good work- not your average railway shot.

For a minute I thought you scanned this from a historical railway book from the early 1900's. If that is the look your going for I think you got it.

i like it but there is too much sky and its a little blown out for my tastes..maybe a slight crop and a neutral density filter or some burning in that region would help

I like the theory and it works well in B&W but would like a bit more DOF. I have seen something similar to this but with a guy in overalls posing in the foreground with a large hammer. It worked well.

Bob. :D

Canon 5D, 350D, lots of patience and a sack of other stuff.

I think it would work very well selling it to a company in the railway industry. I personally see this kind of image every day and think it would make a good company advert along the lines of "keeping you on track" etc.....
