Hi, me again..

So I just sold off my 11-16 2.8 I yesterday, and I woke-up to a job offer in my email for a real-estate gig and site inspections.

I still have a Tamron 17-50 2.8 II (listed for sale also). Will it be wide enough?

probably not. I know I've done some photos of bathrooms at 24mm and it wasn't wide enough. I had to rent a 17-40 for a few sessions.... 17mm is equivalent to 27.2mm on a crop..

Nope...I want the 11-16 lol.

Can you rent one? It shouldn't be that expensive if they are paying for the gig.

I have Tamron 17-35 f2.8 and it's definitely not wide enough for a small room on my 60D.

Shoot! I owned the 11-16 for over a year and took it out ONCE! I thought I would be doing more landscapes, but I never had time to go out and find the right scene. So I sold it thinking I would be better off with some cash towards a lens that will get used more, rather than having it sit and gather dust. Doh!

I guess I could rent, I don't know where to find a place to rent one from around here though

Heya,

14mm Rokinon? Only $300ish. Would do what you need. It's only 3mm difference from the 11mm Tokina, but at like 60% of the cost. Otherwise, if you're doing indoor housing and stuff, I would invest in the Canon 10-22mm on a crop, to help control flare in case you get into some big lighting issues in a house.

Very best,

Very best,

3mm on the wide side is pretty major when it comes to FOV differences.

What kind of gig and inspections? I do real estate inspections, and find the clients aren't looking for wall hanger type photos, and a cell phone camera suffices for most of the requirements. If it's commercial photography with real estate as the subject, then it's different.

For interiors you're going to be using off-camera flash. So get the Canon 10-22 or the sigma 10-20 - the extra 1mm really does make a difference.

you can rent from lensrentals.com or borrowlenses.com

Just checked borrowlenses (who has multiple pickup locations nationwide...one of their two main locations is only 2 miles from me) three different brand/model lenses that are 10mm at widest, and two Tokinas at 11mm and 12mm widest, all non-fisheye. Prices range from $19 for 3 days (Tokina 12-24mm) thru $33 for 3 days (10mm-20something zooms)
