I will take the 6D thats the only restriction. But which lenses (see my sig) should i take with me?

Im going for 8 days over new year primary to visit my girlfriend which is there for 6 month. That said, i dont want to take too much with me so should i more go wide or long?

Thanks for your thoughts

David

16-35 and 50. 135 if you really think you'll use it. Simple stuff.

I spent last Christmas and New Year in London. Keep it light and versatile. If I were you, I'd take only the 6D and the 24-70. That will cover 98% of your needs.

I'd bring the 16-35, 50, and the 135 :)

When just walking around big ben, the 16-35 will be awesome.

Don't forget to check out the jack the ripper museum :)

It depends on how much sight-seeing you plan on doing. But for me, the 16-35L, 50L & 70-300L is the perfect travel combination. Leave the 50L at home/hotel and use it in the evenings only.

If sightseeing a lot, you're going to want the 16-35L for street scenes and wide views inside Westminster or tight places. You're going to want the 50L for evening and low-light stuff. You're going to want the 70-300L for compressed street scenes, statues, subject separation from background, etc.

I have the same travel kit except I have a 40 pancake for evenings, but looking to get the 50L.

Safe travels.

Wow seems like a clear thing. 16-35 abd 50 for sure. About the 135 i dont know, never really used it for something else than portraits.

Im planned out with other museums but maybe when i go the second time in february ^^

I played with the idea of bringing the 70-300 because i like it and its so sharp. But i guess thats too much. I dont like the 24-70 planning on selling it soon. I think the 40mm will be my friend too as it fits (perfectly xD) in the hood of the 50L and for times i dint want to lug the brick 50

Thanks yall so far. Any further suggestions or places i HAVE TO visit?

24-70, maybe 16-35 if you have room. 24-70 will do most of everything for you in London. I had that setup in Paris this year and it worked fine for everything I wanted to photograph.

40D, 5D3, a bunch of lenses and other things

Picadilly square was very nice. The london eye, which of course is next to big ben. The jack the ripper museum was awesome! (setup more like ripleys than a standard museum)
I remember there being a street (rectangular area) with lots of bars club.. Very interesting crowds.. great people watching and photo taking!

The only thing I can say.... is that the food is royally disgusting. no pun intended :p

London dungeon..
Tower bridge at night..
Windsor castle is a must but I don't think you are allowed to take pictures inside but still worth it for £17.50 (you need to check season dates and times on the website)
Covent garden is great for pubs and stuff..

I think you are right on both counts.
It's been about 13 years since I've been.. what a blast!
I had a film camera back then and I remember coming out with 4-5 rolls... really wonderful shots.
My friend and I did a 18 day europe trip.. 1 week in london, 3-4 days in istanbul, and the remainder in bodrum, turkey.
