I have a problem with associating image files with CS6.

Until this morning I had both CS5 and CS6 installed but in order to try and save a bit of space I uninstalled CS5 using Revo uninstaller. I have now got a problem in that most image file types do not show CS6 as the default open with programme and when I try to reset to CS6 - the programme doesn't even show.
Is it just a case of uninstall CS6 and re-install it or is there another solution.

Thanks for your help

Windows? Try right clicking on an example of each of the file types of interest, then selecting Open With, then Choose Default Program..., then select CS6. Be sure to check Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.

Thanks for the reply but like I said -that option doesn't show. cS6 is not on the list of programmes not on the default list either.

Does CS6 still work OK? Can you open a file from within CS6?

I can - and my preferences are set correctly in Bridge as well. It seems to be just since I uninstalled CS5 .

Thanks for the reply but like I said -that option doesn't show. cS6 is not on the list of programmes not on the default list either.

Below the default list there is a Browse button. Click and navigate to the PSCS6 folder; in Program Files for the x64 version, in Program Filesx86 for the x32 version. Navigate down until you find the .exe file with the appropriate icon.

I tried that as well ( I'm on a PC not a Mac) but although I can navigate to Photoshop.exe the selection doesn't work?

Answered the problem by uninstalling and re-installing CS6 - all file types re-associated.

That is often the solution, especially since you had un-installed the previously "default" CS5!
