Not sure if this is just in my head or not...
but I noticed that if I'm in live view on my 60D,and using auto focus, it seems to have a much harder (takes longer) time focusing than if I just look thru the viewfinder. Anyone else notice this? Am I crazy?

Nothing is wrong.

That's the way the Live View contrast detection autofocus works. That function is slower than the phase detection autofocus which uses the separate autofocus sensor, but it's generally considered to be more accurate.

If you want quicker Live View autofocus you'll need to get a 70D, which has a revised system.

You could try reading the manual - page 160 onwards might help.

You and my brother suggested the same thing lol. That's actually the first thing I went to do, but for the life of me, I have no idea what I did with it :p

Download the PDF from Canon's website. I have a copy on my phone and another on DropBox.

no, you're not crazy. Check out the manual. Someday the live view AF will be the same as the viewfinder but not this year
