Did some pp to your rawfiles and a narrower crop hope you don't mind.

...

Nope, don't mind a bit; that's why I have Editing on and posted the raws. I love to see what other people can do with my raw material.

I confirmed the 400mm lock this morning, Peter. There is a notch at 400 dead that allows the lock switch to fully engage; so, it is a legit lock and not just a happy coincidence that it works there.

Tried it and works on mine, that and being and to push pull is a plus.:)

Now if it just had a lock at 600mm for when I'm point it up in the air at a bird or the night sky...

A Red Tail Hawk looking for dinner. :)

Very nice! :D

With regards to teleconverters, I was playing with my Sigma 2x converter yesterday with this lens. It fits and works, but no AF via the viewfinder - I did get AF lock with live view though at 600mm. Should be fun to test this with the lunar eclipse next week :)

eta - apparently the eclipse is visible where I live, but will be over by the time the moon has risen :( Oh well, I will test it on plain old moon shots instead :)

Yep that Lowepro is the 13x32 if I remember correctly. I have one and it fits beautifully.

Thanks to all.

Did I read "push-pull"?
If yes, do you think any possibility it will create any damage...
Push pull is real good idea for this long lens..

Shouldn't damage anything as long as you take it easy and don't go too fast.

The bad thing about push / pull is people store and pick up by either end .
This causes lens to open fast , sucking in air .
Nick name is dust pump .
Store flat and pick up by middle
