Here is the moon last night. Again, just a quick sample. T5i as the camera body, on a tripod, 10 second shutter. I did process this in LR, but no cropping. Can't wait to put this lens on my Canon 1D Mk1 camera this week. Having fun for sure. 600mm

I'd love to see what this looks like cropped tighter and in larger resolution.

Well, that's one way to look at it, yes I like the way you think

I held this lens for a short period at Imagingusa2014 my concern compared to my 150-500 sig was that I really had to crank to get the lens from 150 to 600 I have big hands and felt I had to rotate several times vs one full motion.

Can anyone elaborate on the comfort of the zoom?

It takes a little bit of practice and a little more english on the wrist than normal, but you can run it from one end to the other with a few minutes of work with it. I used it for 2-3 hours on Saturday and didn't have much problem once I got used to it. There certainly wasn't any actual discomfort or anything, either; just a shift in handling.

Now does anyone want to slap a 1.4x or 2x TC on it, and then we can really have some fun! I'd actually be very interested in the lens with a TC, whether it'll work, and how good/bad it is. Let's see... 600mm x 2 x 1.6 (crop body) = 1920mm for less then $1500. Hmmm.......

I'd never think about that. Maybe, maybe a 1.4x...

I just got mine about ten minutes ago.

First shot. Handheld @600 ISO 1000, F/6.3, 1/500

Just applied lens correction, and Raw pre-sharpener. I can't play around too much with it now because its time for work shortly. :

Looks pretty good, Craig. Really shows how shallow that DoF is, too. Will be interested to see some comparisons of it vs your 400 rescaled.

There's something wrong when the rule of thumb for hand holding speed approaches the maximum shutter speed.... Oh, and with f/12.3 wide open the AF might have a little trouble and the view finder might be a touch dark for manual.

I've clicked on the original on the flickr sight, but it's very pixelated? The colors also don't look natural.

Will you post the RAW? I'd like to see what can be done with it.

Thanks. Yes I will do some comparison shots with the 400. Maybe tomorrow. But as is the rule when you get a new lens the weather sucks! Its cloudy and very dull outside. But I'd expect no less.

Its kinda crappy here too, but it's lightening up, I have off work today as well, I think I will go out in a min to see what I can get or not.

I noticed we're on the same neck of the woods. Cloudy today, more clouds, cold wind and snow coming tomorrow afternoon.
Thursday looks promising. It will be difficult to stay put with a nice new lens!
