I'm kinda wondering if a Pringles can, which fits perfectly over the head of my 580EXII, can serve to extend the flash by keeping the beam narrow. Thoughts?

Why not do some variations as you are pretty darn good at controlling exposer as you have some awesome pictures at your flickr page :)

If you are referring to those static bird shots then they are not using beamer.
I used direct flash (closer to the bird outside ) while I sit in my blind (the kitchen) and shoot through closed double glass pane door...

I'm a ways north from where I'm typically at in Minnesota, north of the Twin Cities, for work. Drove around for a bit after I got off, looking for bears.. no such luck today..I did manage to get a pretty good deer shot with some interesting light though. People have said they've had bear, including cubs, in their backyards! Arg. Must.find.bear.

I'd suspect it's more likely to act like a snoot. It may extend the range a tiny bit, but a Fresnel lens would be way better.

Nice shots. I'm a macro guy at heart, so these appeal to me :)

Camera, some lenses, too little time, too little talent

They may be saying "beer" including "club" (sandwich) in their backyard (barbeque) ... :p

BTW I believe that the Better Beamer is essentially just a Fresnel lens

Thanks for the reminder sploo. I've recently misplaced my lens and was wondering what they were called...just ordered 3 from ebay...
