Hei Baller! I've tried panning with it on a 7d - the size does make it a bit difficult to handle compared to a 100-400. Nothing is impossible, but my first impressions are that I need to practice a lot to get decent results...here's an example of a very harshly lit one

ps...this was shot at 1/40th of a second just for practicing.

Got a chance to shoot the moon tonight after getting back from the grocery store.
Tamron is once again proving to be a great budget telephoto. I'd take it over the 100-400 any day!

I was hoping to do the same last night, but right after getting home from class last night the clouds moved in and the thunderstorm rolled through until bedtime.I hope to get out tonight after class and give it another go.

Same thoughts after I pulled the trigger and placed the order last Saturday. Been reading on various sites that its not very adaptable for airshow and race track shoots. On dpreview, he explains his technique and says he now actually prefers using the Tamron for such shoots. He actually pans and shoots single shots in AI servo mode with a technique he describes on dpreview. http://www.dpreview.co​m/forums/post/53951875
Best thing to do is try the lens out; you can always return it if not satisfied.

Appreciate the link, though I'm not sure it describes any method of using a lens vs basically telling us that he's mastered his panning technique. I would also be interested in the lens over my 100-400, but it would get used at races and airshows, and mostly handheld. The airshow stuff I did this past weekend with my 100-400L was mostly at F8/F10 and I would really hope that at closed down that much, the Tamron would be very sharp, even at 600mm.

Then comes the possibility of a new 100-400L, which then would really throw a wrench into the works.

Sorry for the late reply, I've literally been flying around the world for the last few days. VC was off - I find it very distracting when panning. It does make a world of difference when shooting slower moving stuff though

I just realizes you want this to be viewed with calibrated monitor, don't have that yet I have a cheap monitor dell u2312hm only. Sorry bout that but your moon still look good in my monitor. Well done.
