Hi Guys,

I (re)joined the club a couple weeks ago. This is my second 150-600, my first one was almost a year ago, the very first shipment from B&H. That copy was not very sharp and had an AF problem on my 70D (worked fine on my 6D).
This one is a refurb, got it at a good price and is much sharper than the first one I had. And it does not have the same AF problem as the old one did.

I am in the middle of a "downgrade" from a certain point of view since I am planning on selling my beloved Sigma 120-300 2.8 OS. We have a baby due in 4 days and this way I can raise some funds. Plus, I won't be able to go out and shoot as much as before. I love my Sigma, it's a great lens but for now I think it must go (considering it's at least twice as expensive as the Tamron.)

Anyway, I haven't shot any good wildlife images with the lens yet, but here's tonight Moon.

Shot with a Sigma 1.4x TC attached, 840mm, 70D, manual mode. Cropped and PP'd.

WOW Great shot Gabe. I am glad you are back with the Tamron.

Up at Eide Road today, beautiful blue sky day and...cold! No short eared owls but on way back a group was out and a long eared owl was in tree..surrounded by branches..ugh. It was getting close to dusk so sun was fading. Have more to put up tomorrow. Pat

That moon shot is just amazing. Now that the haze has cleared and we are expecting clear (but cold) nights, I might have to get back out and see if I can get a shot. But that shot you did is the standard. I can't wait to see more of your shots.

Who's using this thing on the original 7D? I have the option to pick one up for like $350, it'd be really nice to have the extra reach and I'm guessing better AF than my 6d. For $350 to have a 2nd body to use just for wildlife would be pretty nice

Me. I am tempted to buy a used 7D gripped for 650 local CL much more if it is $350. That is steal considering everything works and not beat up really bad plus more life actuations in it.

Yeah, for $350 I'd buy it just to flip it.
That seems a little too hard to believe though. I mean I'd really really check it out to make sure everything works and actuations are not in the millions :)

My buddy works at a camera shop and has 3 of them I can pick from. Once the 7dII came out everybody went and traded in their 7d's for dirt cheap so he's giving it to me for what the shop paid for them. It's actually going to be 400 with a battery grip. Hoping the tamron works well with it, having the equivalent of 950mm would be awesome...less cropping and bigger prints I can sell. The last snowy owl I posted I cropped a ton, its not even big enough to sell 8x12s, and ive had a bunch of people ask me to put that photo on my website for sale.

I see. 400 with grip is a great price too.

A couple of quick shots this afternoon, I didn't set up anything yet, these were handheld in not so good light.

But still looks good to us Gabe. Great shots.

JSE It's nice to have a buddy like yours. Did you say he got 3 of those 7D's. Can he be my buddy too. :-)
