Will that's a beautiful Cara :)

Peter- I bet you have 7Dii before Christmas is over!

I've recently added the Sony SLT a77ii and having both I have to say the Sony has merit.

Very nice Caracara, Will! I love these birds, I don't see many, but it's as exciting (to me) as seeing an eagle. :) That looks like you got pretty close too!
One thing I have noticed and I am not sure what it may be, but on some of your images, although shot very well, they sometimes look really dark, this is one of them. Your Kestrel is also pretty dark. I just thought I would point that out if it may help, it just looks like it needs to be lightened a little, that's all. :)

^I wouldn't getting in on some secrets too; assuming you're talking 7Dii.
As a matter of fact I was just assigning Case 3 (-2 tracking sensitivity, 1 acc/dec tracking,+2 AF point auo switching) to the AF-On button and AF-On using all 65 AF points beginning tracking with the center point, etc. etc. all mapped to the C2 button on the knob.
Star * button gets 1 pt AF.
My thinking if bird is flying and I'm panning I get the bird in frame and my thumb pushes the AF-On button. If bird is sitting my thumb pushes the * button.

Honestly for me with the 7Dii there are just way way way too many possibilities. I need to figure out something soon, LD14 is less than a month away now.

maybe asked loads of times before.. (I've not seen it though)

I'm liking the Tamron 150-600.. but wonder if anyone with it also tried the Canon el 100-400L?

If so what was the difference for you - I know the extra 200mm ;)

I'm tempted by both lens'. I've been very happy with my Tamron 17-50 f2.8vc lens. I'd also like the f2.8 vc 70-200 (can't have everything at once) :(

I like taking photos at Track day events etc.. so thought the 70-200 wouldn't be enough. Where as a 100-400 or the 150-600 would then give me the extra 'zoom'

Any advice will be gratefully received :)
