Got an invoice emailed by Tamron and this is what it says Jv.

Symptoms - focus defect or poor image quality
Zoom too loose
VC is not working
Repairs - check and adjust image quality
Disassemble and lubricate zoom
Disassemble and clean entire lens
Adjust/replace VC unit.

Luckily all under warranty and I am hoping for improvement when I recieved my lens. Can't wait to have it back.

Exactly the problems I have. Really need to send mine in, it's works just good enough to get some shots, but I need to do it before spring migration.

So, nothing working on your lens? I hope they fixed all the defects.

Yes very similar.
I haven't had much opportunity to make a thorough evaluation of the new lens they sent me since we've had overcast every time I have a free hour or when there is a sliver of sunlight I can't get anything close enough to avoid heavy crops.
The new lens does, however, seem much sharper.
Hope yours is perfect when it gets home.

Update mine is shipped back to me scheduled to arrive on Monday, So excited when the outcome of the repairs. ,

I'm disappointed to hear of the problems with this lens. I have a friend that owns two and has had problems with both. His problems were the first I had heard of until reading here. Hope they get it worked out. Glad there is a long warranty on these lenses.

We have heard of a handful of cases out of how many thousands, does this realy constitute a problem?

There is always a tendency to forget problem reports are naturally over emphasised statistically.

Doesn't make it any better for those affected, but it IS positive to hear the supplier standing by their product without problems.

When you put that into the context of some like Jeff who had a lot of trouble getting results from Canon on the 7DII, I think this is good.

It is not that things go wrong, that is inevitable, it is how the problems are dealt with that matters.

I've got no complaints. 7d and Tammy go to work with me everyday, boucing down gravel roads out in the middle of no where. It's been a great lens, especially for the money. When I called Tamron they were super nice, said it would all be warranty work, they'd get it fixed. If the new dock works with it, that'd be icing on the cake. Not listed on their list of supported lens tho.

I certainly have no complaints with mine after a year and a half of using it. I'm not particularly gentle on mine either. Point well taken Lester.
