The SP 150-600mm G2 (Generation 2) ultra-telephoto lens with upgraded optical performance enables handheld shooting with remarkable definition. This new lens builds upon the success of the current SP 150-600mm (Model A011) which Tamron first introduced in December, 2013, including better overall optical performance and faster AF speed, VC enhancements, plus Fluorine Coating, FLEX ZOOM LOCK and tele converter.

Rebuilt from the ground up to meet Tamron’s strict quality standards and design specifications, this new zoom combines smart engineering and high performance with quality craftsmanship, durability and user friendliness.

Enhanced optics meet greater versatility

Focal length: 600mm Exposure: F/6.3 1/400 sec ISO1250

The SP 150-600mm G2 includes three LD (Low Dispersion) lens elements which completely eliminate axial and transverse chromatic aberrations. It also features upgraded optical construction (21 elements in 13 groups).

Anti-reflection technologies, eBAND (Extended Bandwidth & Angular-Dependency) Coating and BBAR (Broad-Band Anti-Reflection) Coating improve light transmission and suppress internal reflections, including light reflected off the camera’s image sensors. So even when taking a backlit or semi-backlit photograph, ghosting and flare caused by reflected light are fully eliminated.

Additional enhancements expand the lens’ versatility. For example, MOD (Minimum Object Distance) has been reduced to 2.2m (86.6 in) so you can enjoy tele-macro photography and dramatic bokeh.

The Model A022 is equipped with the USD (Ultrasonic Silent Drive) ring-type motor that delivers excellent responsiveness and control. AF speed is significantly improved from current model, and it enables accurate high-speed focus even when capturing moving subjects.

When shooting with AF, the Full-time Manual Focus override allows you to instantly make fine focusing adjustments manually, without having to switch between modes.

Keep it steady with improved VC

Focal length: 213mm Exposure: F/6.3 1/50 sec ISO2000

Focal length: 375mm Exposure: F/7.1 1/80 sec ISO100

The VC (Vibration Compensation) effectiveness is equivalent to 4.5 stops, based on image stabilization performance levels established by CIPA (Camera & Imaging Products Association) when using in VC MODE 3. Model A022 now has three types of VC modes, and it is possible to choose the optimum VC mode according to the situation for taking a photograph, such as when wishing to pan the camera.

The improved VC minimizes blurring caused by slight camera movement, which is prevalent with long telephoto lenses and even more troublesome with higher-resolution cameras. VC enhances the freedom of hand-held shooting at slower shutter speeds required by low-light conditions such as dusk.

VC MODE 1 is the standard mode that strikes a great balance between the stability of the viewfinder image and the stabilization effects.
VC MODE 2 is exclusively used for panning.
VC MODE 3 prioritizes the stabilization of the captured images and forgoes the stabilization of the viewfinder image.

With the optional accessory TAMRON TAP-in Console™, you can custom the configuration of VC MODE 1. Choose the viewfinder view of either Standard or viewfinder image priority.

FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism enables zoom lock at any position

FLEX ZOOM LOCK mechanism quickly locks or unlocks the zoom at any position simply by sliding the zoom ring. Photographers can shoot from any angle without the zoom extending unintentionally. Additionally, the customary Zoom Lock switch prevents unwanted barrel extension during transportation.

Sounds like Sigma 150-600mm C. I am excited on this, I traded my tamron for Canon 400mm F5.6 but I will be looking out for this lens, I like the that they are adding VC modes switch which is lacking in gen. 1. Does anyone Know when it will be out?

What backpack to you folks use to hold your 150-600 with body attached, that also fits a few more lenses, tripod and hopefully room for a water bottle and stuffed windbreaker jacket.

I do not see a Lowepro bag that fits my full needs... although I have a Lowepro Fastpack Video 250 which does fit my 150-600 (hood reversed) plus flash and 2 medium sized lenses - and I can fit my 70D in the upper compartment.
Water bottle OR tripod.

I've loved the Tam 150-600 in A-mount on the a77ii so much I just pre-ordered the G2 for the Canon mount. Fingers crossed.

1399.00 is not bad.

B&H plans to start shipping on September28th. I think the demand might be higher then the supply for a while. I put in a preorder but have no idea where I am on the waiting list

I use the lowepro flipeside 500. Lens and body attached with hood in shooting position fits great. Lots of room left over. I usually carry 2 to 4 more lens, depending on what I'm doing

Been a while! Lots of irons in the fire but had to take time for the Pelicans. They only stop on their migration here if the water is down and we are lucky enough to have what they need this year.
Was great to get the boat out with the Tammy and get a lot of shots yesterday.
