Good Afternoon Guys -
A couple of years ago, my wife got me a Canon SD1400IS camera which we've used when needing quality above a phone camera offers.
When vacationing recently at the beach, I accidentally dropped it in the dry sand. I immediately picked it up and dusted it off. Later that day when trying to power it on, the lens opened about 3/4 the amount it usually does, and I got a "Lens Error" on the LCD. The lens then went back in and powered off.
Upon getting home, I tried to fix it the following ways
- Used small, thin plastic (like playing card) to clean out between and around each retracting lens piece
- Disassembled and tried to clean out foreign material
- Lightly pressed on lens to try to set it in place (as suggested by another forum) It looks straight and nothing happened so think it pertained to another issue
I found a couple of pieces of sand inside, but that's it. I don't know how the gears are configured inside of the retracting lens, but am sure it's just a small piece of sand stuck in one of them. The problem is, I can't get into it to clean out! Even on ifixtit.com, the retracting lens seems to be a single housing.
Any ideas on how I can fix this or get inside of the retracting lens to clean the gears?
Below are links to some pics of the camera I took while disassembled...

Thanks!
