I pulled out my 85Lii to use and found out that the aperture blades were stuck at the smallest aperture F2x. Freaking out & not sure what to do. I've tried everything. Gives a communication error with the camera. Suggestions please?

Ouch. Are all the contacts clean and damage free?

Well, you could try banging it against a rock or some concrete real hard to see if that loosens up the aperture. That might work.

Or you could send it to a Canon service center to have the aperture diaphragm replaced.

Did you try attaching it to the camera? Sometimes a lens can be removed when in live view or DOF preview and the blades will remain in position. I would try that and see what happens. Worst case scenario send it in.

Try changing the aperture and pressing the DOF preview button a few times

Tried this as well. It makes a sound like it's trying to move and you can see it nudge but it's still stuck at F16 :(

I think it's the actual aperture mechanism. If I'm on F16 and I hold down the DOF button and open up the aperture to say F8, I hear no sounds of the lens even trying to open it up. However, when I do it the other way (F2 to F16 for example), even though it is stuck on F16, it keeps trying to close it down.
