On Friday my new to me Tamron 70-300 VC came, and I went to a local park to get a feel for it, and test it out.

As it's winter in Florida, there were plenty of birds out around the lake, and from a distance I saw of flock of Ibis' coming in. To try and see what I could do, I gave shooting them in flight a shot. I was quite pleased, as I've never even tried to catch a BIF beofre. I got off about 10 shots, and this one jumped off the LCD when I had a look.

What do I need to do to improve? I was at the water's edge, so this was as close as I could get. How does the IQ look overall? Any advice at all would be appreciated.

ExiF is attached. How do these look to you more experienced folks? First is a heavy crop with minor adjustments in LR5.3, and the second is a straight RAW to jpeg conversion (camera neutral).

If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

They look very good to me. Nice focus, no camera shake, not much you can do if you can not get closer. You might try scouting to see where the birds like to fly in but other than that it is catch as catch can.
