First try at this...took about 30 seconds to set up. 2 light source, both CFL...total newb at this so be nice :D

Indeed i did, oddly in RAW the background looked all black, after i uploaded to Flickr i could tell it wasn't, little frustrating. When i redo these i will have a backdrop made to ensure it's blacked out :D

I like the subject matter & the pic looks sharp, but, I think you need more light. Are you overly concerned about losing the deep, black background? Also, I think there is too much space above the Violator's head. Get closer!

I have never shot in RAW. I'm still able to make tweaks in Photoshop. What are some advantages in RAW?

Wow, really? You need to do it. Now.

The editing options in DPP or Lightroom are endless. You can adjust so many things. JPG is terrible. RAW will open your world to brand new things and make your photos shine.
