Here's my issue... I'm using a PW on-camera with shutter release cable, 2 strobes with PW's, and a PW in-hand to trigger everything.

The problem is that once I press the in-hand remote it triggers the strobes and the shutter at the same exact time causing the strobe to finish before the shutter even opens, it happens that fast. What am I doing wrong here?

I was able to rectify the problem by removing the shutter release cable, eliminating the in-hand PW and pressing the shutter button manually.

I searched the site but only found results regarding a delay triggering a second body.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You're at or below the camera's sync speed, right?

Think about it.

You hit the button. 1/1000 of a second later, the strobes are done. Meanwhile, the camera has to raise its mirror, stop down the lens, and open the shutter. Mechanical devices will never travel at the speed of light.

Try a shutter release cable for the camera. Let the PWs handle the strobes.

Yes, 1/200 on the 5D3.

I have a dedicated shutter release cable but I need the capabilities of the PW to trigger the camera from over 10 yards away, my cable is only 6 feet.

I guess what I'm asking is can it be done or is the dedicated 'PW shutter release cable' designed to only be used with ambient lighting? Can't be...
