I absolutely love the ability to control the 6D through any WIFI-capable Android device using the 6D's built-in ad-hoc WIFI network.
The only problem is that I think my phone, the Samsung Galaxy III, may not be the best device to use with it. The issue is battery life. I guess since I use it as my every day phone, by the time I get out for an afternoon of shooting, it is already at 70-80%. A couple of hours in the field and it is down to 20-40%.
I am thinking of getting a dedicated device to use to control the camera. Any recommendations? Ideally, something field-portable and with a long enough battery life to be able to be taken on multi-day shooting trips. I guess hoping to go a week without charging is unrealistic in this age's electronics, but maybe 24-48 hours? Or maybe with cheap and easily-switchable batteries?
I was considering the Nexus 7, mainly because of its size and price. I seem to come across lots of complaints about its battery life (6-7 hrs heavy use tops), though, and I think its battery is non-removable.
