Ok so I'm ready to get a new macro lens and I'm at a stand off between these 2 lenses

http://www.ebay.com …enses&hash=item4ac7cb59b5 (external link)

This zeiss is a 1:1 ratio magnification lens and I'm a huge zeiss fan so if you have owned this or still own it please let me know what you think

My other choice is the canon 100ef f2.8 macro lens. I know it is a great lens but how does it stack against the older Zeiss?

Input appreciated!

I don't know anything about that zeiss lens but I do know that the zeiss lenses from the '50s (I have several) don't come close to the new L lenses. The 100mm macro is a wonderful lens and it will auto focus.

thanks, sorry I meant the non-L The regular 100mm is the same price range as the zeiss. Still not 100% on the decision. I would rarely use af for macro. Just want the better of the two. Im not sure if this zeiss model offers the uniquely notorious zeiss 3d pop caused by the well corrected apochromatic elements. The coatings are semi important but sharpness, no CA, and field flatness are mandatory.
