If steroids are illegal for athletes, should PS be illegal for models?

I was using a Carl Zeiss Biotar 58mm f/2 (c. 1950 manual focus lens). This shot I believe was at f/4 or maybe f/5.6, ISO 400, shutter - 1/40th. I just focused close (didn't actually focus on anything), until I liked the bokeh. I took another one at f/2, but that allowed too much ambient.

Oh, and it was a Christmas tree at our downtown Xmas light display. It's about 25 - 30' tall.

What lens, and at what aperture? If you can open up more, you may avoid the little stop sign shapes, unless you were going for them. You'll also get bigger bokeh 'balls' which will fill it up more.

The lens is a 50mm Pentax Macro-Takumar f4 set to about 5.6. I'll play around with it some more and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion!

Weird issue with my 50 1.4. The bokeh on the right side exhibits flat sides on specular highlights. Those are two different trees, so it's not the light source.
