Watch that 24-70, it may come in a white box(no barcode for rebate), someone had that happen last time it was this price.

it's like a gift card, except it expires in a few months after it's issued.

It would take about 14 years before the card would expire at $2 per month beginning about 7 months (if I recall correctly) after receipt. Here's my thought. If a person didn't/can't spend $300 in that time frame, they didn't want/need it in the 1st place.

This 24-70 deal is legit. I bought the white box from pmi and then cancelled once I realized it. I'm debating on still getting the 24-70 to step down from my 2.8. It's tough since 2.8 is stupid sharp, but I could use the cash.

I'm late to the game here but aren't the rewards basically a gift card? Same with the rebate? It's not like money in your pocket, right?

Correct; rewards are to use against a future order. It is one way for us to get around the MAP requirements set by the manufacturers.

Same price I paid for my 70-200mK2.

$1800 should be the everyday price IMHO.

Got my 70-200 2.8 IS II yesterday from Amazon (free super saver shipping). Best lens packaging ever...was double bubble wrapped all the way around with air pillows added to prevent any shifting inside the box. Has the new lens cap also.
But man is this thing a beast compared to my f4 IS (that I must sell as I used that as a selling point to my other half).
Happy Camper:D
