Just received a new 5DM3 ... ScanDisk 32g and format the card in the camera.

I also have a Scandisk 8g disk ...

I shot a series of test photos, comparing 30D to 5DM3 ... shot the 8g disk in the 30D and the 32g disk in the 5MD3

Shoot both cameras in RAW +.jpeg

When I open the 30D images (8g disk) in DPP, it shows a .jpeg and RAW and I can open and process both.

When I open the 5DM3 images (32g disk) .jpeg opens and processes ... but RAW, it shows a gray square with X on it. RAW will not open?

In both DDP, same program, same computer, the images show side x side, like it should, with .jpeg and cr2 files. But the Gray X files will not open. The Gray X files are only from the 5DM3 ...

Hope I explained that well enough - very puzzled - probably simple answer, but M44 is a little tech-stupid.

Have you updated the DPP to the version you got with the 5DIII, or are you using the same verrsion that you had previously?

Each model camera has a different raw version, so an older software that hasn't been updated with the latest raw codecs won't be able to read them from a camera that came out after the update.

Hmmm ... that's probably it. I thought I updated both computers, but might not. Will check that and see ... thanks for the tip. New 5DM3 this week, and the grin is probably in the way of proper brain processing at the moment.
