The Singh Ray Gold n Blue polarizer is a bit expensive. It doctors a photo to a style that seems out of popularity. I love clouds but the ones in this photo are unreal.

I would have liked to see this shot without the Singh Ray and added color. A plain polarizer and this shot would be more to my liking.

When I first viewed this shot I was prepared to move on. I saw your second comment and decided to give you my opinion. Maybe others have the same likes and that is why the comments are low.

Just my opinion. You do have a good photo just not my style.

Thank you Denny,, I appreciate your comment ,, I do lots of landscapes and most of the time I do use a standard polarizer,, yes this image is somewhat more "surreal" then natural,, I actualy sold that filter a while back  I do often times like an image thats a little out of the norm though,, I originally did a B&W conversion of this image which I thought turned out well, it of course go NO comments on this site either,, I have been posting images on forums for many years and I enjoy talking about images, I certainly appreciate honesty and have NO issue if someone doesnt care for a particular style or image,,its funny how different sites and people respond, I've posted this image and the B&W on several other sites and for the most part this image is very well received,, again I appreciate your honest comments ;)

I have this filter and really don't use it or like it very much. To me, it gives the image too much of an overdone HDR effect that I am trying to get away from. So much stuff these days is over saturated and unreal because of misused HDR. Tom Till (I love his work) wrote an article about this in terms of his own images and was critical of himself for overusing HDR. Can't remember where I saw it. All of this being said, I really like your image! I appreciate the exposure info. BTW, maybe its me, but is the horizon off a bit?

Thanks Marty,, I agree in that the whole over saturated HDR stuff is unappealing, I did end up selling that filter as I grew tired of it rather quickly, as stated by Denny, its expensive too, for the most part I do prefer a much more natural appearance in my landscape work,,( I also do alot of macro work which is totally natural ) I do however, like to push the boundaries on occasion  while this image is over saturated and "surreal" I find it appealing ;) Thanks again for commenting, I appreciate the honest words :D

One more thing. I am fairly new to this forum. I wish more people would provide the camera, lens and exposure information (including filters) when they post images. It helps me learn what people are using and the kind of results their getting. Thank you again for doing that.

I joined this forum in 2004. Take a look a my post count. (not many) I'm retired and do spend a lot of time here.
There are others that have just joined and have thousands of posts. Some I feel are only trying to increase their post count. Some make comments that are copies of other comments made on other photos.

There are of course some very good comments made.

There are members on this forum that have a style like no others. When they post a photo I don't need to look at the name to know who it is. Some I like some I don't. I just very seldom comment. If I don't post a comment on a Photo it doesn't mean I think it's bad.

I agree 100% with the above.

However " BTW, maybe its me, but is the horizon off a bit?"...is the type of comment that makes me cringe.

I got in the habit of doing the exif info quite a long time ago, I remember when I was learning digital, there were some people whom I admired that did so and I also found it very beneficial, so its my pleasure to do so ;)

this site is somewhat of a "high traffic" site I believe, lots of people, lots of posts and I agree many are after numbers, many post images and expect people to comment on their work while never taking the time to comment on others,, I've been doing forums for many years and I have some favorite sites that I frequent more then others,,
seems like there are alot of people just learning and lots of "snap shot" style images,, which I certainly have no issue with, we all have to learn somewhere,, to me though, this image is alot more, I find it well balanced, well composed, well exposed and I dont mean to blow my own horn but I find it alot more artistic then just a "snap"
I have grown thick skin throughout the years and certainly have no issue whatsoever with "constructive criticisms"
any comments are better then "none" though ;) :D :D
Thanks again guys !! ;)

Curious? Which part of the comment? If it were my image, I would take a second look and simply agree or disagree with the comment. It was not meant to be picky or super-critical. It was just a simple, innocent statement from someone who is viewing an excellent image with the best intentions.

Heya,

I like the image. I think it's a very interesting shot, but also, I like the dramatic color. Sure, it looks HDR, but why is that a bad thing? It's not like there's a "right" way to do photography unless it's an assignment and paid and they have specifics in mind. Right?

I'm interested to know your post processing on this.
Or is this mostly just the filter that did this effect?

Very best,
