Okay, I finally decided to go FF after two decades of using nothing but crop bodies with no video functionality. I took a gigantic leap from 40D. :D I'll be using the 5DIII primarily for photography and use it for video only when I can't carry both the camera and my Canon XA10 camcorder. Although I'll be using the XA10 in most cases, it'd be stupid not to learn everything about the 5DIII's video functionalities and necessary video accessories. Keep in mind that I only shoot video for family events and my kid's musical recitals and concerts so I don't need anything fancy.

Things that I already have:

Tascam DR-100MKII, DR-07MKII
Audio-Technica BP4029 Mid-Side Short Stereo Shotgun Microphone with Rode WS6
Audio-Technica ATH-M50 Studio Monitor Headphone
Pluraleyes Red Giant 3
Sony Movie Studio Platinum 12.0 (64bit)
2 LED video lights
Boom Pole with Pearstone DUSM-1 Universal Shock Mount
1 SanDisk Extreme 32 GB SDHC Class 10 Flash Memory Card
3 Tripods

So what are essential items that are missing from this list in relation to operating the 5DIII?

"Essential Items" all depend on the kind of shooting you are doing. LCD viewfinder, follow focus, on camera LED light, video monopod, steadicam, video monitor, and a jib are common tools used by most pros. But for the use you describe, just an LCD viewfinder for focus assist should be enough.

You will be blown away by the cinematic look of 5D3 video, but the operation of the camera, focus, audio, and monitoring is much more complicated than a camcorder.

What LCD viewfinder would you recommend?
