Shooting on canon full frame looking for the ideal lens for a gigapan setup.

Have 14/2.8 and 24/3,5 tsemkII but looking for a 24mmish fast lens.

Is it the 24L A zeiss? Samyang 24mm? Sigma 35/1.4? The new sigma 16-20mmf2.0 when it comes out?

I'm generally edging towards primes, either a 1.4 one stopped down to 2.0 or 2.8 or a 'perfect' 2.8 one - though at 2.8 I may as well use the tse at 3.5...?

Cheers, Rokinon 14 is the samyang 24.. Doesnt seem to get sharp till 2.8 and has a lot of vignetting.

I can combat the vignetting a little by overlap but that increases the shots needed and overall exposure time.

The 28f2.8 IS looks good, a touch better than the 24/2,8 IS, I guess both are a possibility but are they better than the 24L at 2.8?

Never used the 24L.
I use the 28 f/2.8 IS virtually all the time on my 60D.
It's a superb lens.

Talking to myself and "If only we could be less nit picking". Ahhh.

Didn't know sigma is coming out with a 16-20mmf2.0, that must be something.
Well if budget is not a question for you, have you considered: Leica 24mm f/1.4 Summilux-M Aspherical Manual Focus Lens.

I know that for Old OM mount of Olympus, Olympus had on excellent lens: Zuiko 24mm F/3.5 Shift Lens for OM Mount. Excellent glass. But then not sure if 3.5 is too slow for you and more importantly, if you can actually find a copy of that lens for sale. Also seems your are not happy with your current F3.5 24mm Canon Tilt/Shift.

But then little I know about you, that Rokinon 24mm F1.4 will shine in your capable hands if only you give it a chance. Could you please show and share some images of sharpness problem when wide open with this lens?

The canon tse is a fantastic lens but slower than I want for astro ,though can be used wide open

The samyang 24 reviews don't rate it as highly as the others and poorer than the 24L, I have one of those at the moment on loan and it's ok but prefer it at 2.8

Top of the list at the moment is Zeiss 25 f2. 0 seems to be near perfect wide open

Rob, what about the Canon 24mm f/1.4L? Or the Zeiss Distagon T* 2,8/21? (although I have yet to shoot with this lens wide open, so I can't comment on sharpness).

I have the 24L at the moment it's a great lens but for astro you need 2.8 before it's decent

The 21 looks good but if possible I want something faster.

Looks like a couple new lenses coming soon including a sigma 24/1.4 art
